The blackboard is the community's central message board. User can post messages or (depending on the rights) only the administrator may post the most important news or information. Posts can be replied to.

The blackboard is necessary where a central information-pool is needed. It is never absent especially in intranets where it's (for example) the worker's council's communication media. Its aim is to provide one fast source for up to date information for all users.
