The buddy- resp. user-list is another basic element of lots of
community- and collaboration-solutions. It is the base for
interaction between users and the targetted exchange of
information. It provides the foundation for many user-specific
functions.
The userlist is an overview of all (logged in)
user resp. users of certain groups. Workgroups can communicate
easily, logged in service-members can be shown (to whom can I/the
customer/co-worker/partner talk?), ... Therefore the user-list
is the central communication-unit as it's not only showing the
available users but provides simple communication. With a single
mouse-click a user can be selected and in combination with other
modules messages/tasks/mails can be sent.
The buddylist is an expansion of the
userlist especially for communities. It allows the grouping of
users and the definition of appropriate actions. In fun-communities
this could be "friends" and "foes". For example you want to be
informed if one of your "friends" logs on, on the other hand you
want to hide your online-status from your "foes" and block any
messages from them.
The buddylist can also be used to define certain behaviour. For
example special users may contact me at any time if I'm online,
"normal" user only at special times.
Features:
- show all or only certain user
- assign user to individual groups
- show online-status
- define actions (for example automatic message at
logon)
- connection to other modules (for example mail)
possible
- design fully customizable
- central and personal buddylist possible
